Baaraat is a Bollywood Comedy-Drama-Romance that was released on February 27, 2017. It tells the story of a girl who lives with her widowed mother and takes care of her younger brother. While taking care of her brother she gets approached by a man from school about getting married to him due to the boy being from the same town as her mother. She agrees but shortly after, she finds out that he has been cheating on her for eight years with multiple women in order to support his family back home in Pakistan! The film stars Manav Kaul, Yami Gautam, Abhimanyu Singh and Mannara Jutani in lead roles. Baaraat was released on February 27, 2017. The film had a wide release across India and received positive reviews from critics. It grossed $1,820 USD in its opening weekend, surpassing the lifetime collection of 2016's Dum Laga Ke Haisha.The score and songs of Baaraat were composed by Tanvi Gadia, with lyrics penned by Sandeep Nath & Javed Siddiqui. The soundtrack received positive response but failed to become an instant hit at the box office due to competition with Lootera and Sanju leading the charts at that time. However it still managed to secure around 7.5-8 crore streams which is considered good for a music album of 2017. The music was released on Zee Music Company. Baaraat received positive reviews from critics upon its release. Boxofficeindia gave it a rating of 3.5/5 and wrote "Baaraat not only manages to tickle the funny bones of the viewers but also showcases some stellar performances from its actors." Suprateek Kuhad ofTimes Of India rated it 3.5 out of 5 and wrote "Baaraat is an entertainer that will give a real laugh riot, especially if you are a fan of Hindi movie comedies". IANS gave it a rating of 3.5 out of 5 and stated "Baaraat is a decent family entertainer." The Times of India called the film "a comedy in which you will laugh till your stomach hurts." The critic Baradwaj Rangan wrote that director Yogesh Raj keeps the film moving at a brisk pace, never allowing the characters to slow down for too long. It's Abhimanyu Singh's effortlessly cool performance that keeps Baaraat on track, whatever his character's failings are. However, Rediff gave it 2 out 5 and called this movie"A confusing ride with some promising moments visible here and there. Baaraat soundtrack received mixed response from critics. The Indian Express rated it 2.5/5 and wrote "The music of Baaraat may not be a wild success, but it doesn’t leave you disappointed either."Mint praised the album for being peppy and melodious, but felt that it did not have enough variety to keep things interesting. Indian Cinema Blogger Anupama Chopra called the soundtrack 'hit-and-miss'. Baaraat was released in UK on 9 May 2017 on DVD by Zee Studios UK.
